Two Israeli embassy staff have been killed in a shooting in the US capital. The incident took place outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, DC. The museum was hosting an annual event meant to be a reception for young Jewish professionals. The two victims were leaving the event when they were killed. Police have arrested a suspect, identified as Elias Rodriguez, a 30-year-old from Chicago. Authorities say he was observed pacing outside the museum before the shooting started. Washington police chief Pamela Smith said officers have arrested a suspect following the murder of two Israeli embassy staff members outside the museum. Israeli embassy in Washington spokesman, Tal Naim Cohen, confirmed that two staff members were shot “at close range” while attending a Jewish event at the museum. Writing on his social media platform Truth Social, President Trump condemned the killing of two Israeli embassy staffers in Washington, DC, a short while ago, saying they were “based obviously on anti-Semitism”.
