Boulder police chief Stephen Redfearn said the department received calls at about 1.26pm local time on Sunday of a man with a weapon near a downtown courthouse and that people were being set on fire. Four women and four men between 52 and 88 years old were transported to hospitals, police said, with injuries ranging from minor to “very serious”. “It is clear that this is a targeted act of violence, and the FBI is investigating this as an act of terrorism,” Mark Michalek, an FBI special agent, told a press conference, citing witnesses. He added that there was no evidence that the man was connected to a wider group. Soliman was booked into Boulder county jail on Sunday and has a hearing scheduled for 1.30pm local time on Monday.
