Israeli protesters attempt to block Gaza aid trucks

Israeli protesters have gathered near the Kerem Shalom border crossing in an attempt to block trucks carrying humanitarian aid into Gaza as international experts warn of looming famine. Israel's stepped-up military campaign in Gaza has strained its relations with much of the world. European countries including France, Germany and Britain have said the situation in Gaza is intolerable, and even the support of the US, Israel's closest ally, appears to be wavering. Israel denies Gaza is facing a hunger crisis and has said its blockade is aimed in part at preventing Hamas militants from diverting and seizing aid supplies.
