Police in Brazil said two people had been arrested in connection with an alleged plot to detonate explosives at a free Lady Gaga concert in Rio de Janeiro. Felipe Cury, the secretary of the Rio de Janeiro civil police, said: 'They were clearly saying that they were planning an attack at singer Lady Gaga’s concert, motivated by sexual orientation, in other words, to target the LGBTQIA+ community.' The Rio police chief, Luiz Lima, said the group allegedly behind the plot disseminated hate speech and violent content online 'aimed at gaining notoriety in order to attract more viewers, more participants – most of them teenagers, many of them children'. The Born This Way singer performed at Copacabana beach in the biggest show of her career with an estimated 2.1 million fans present.
