Syrian refugees heading home: Lebanon hopes Syria’s recovery will increase returns

The UN refugee agency estimates more than half a million Syrians have returned home from neighbouring countries since the fall of Bashar al-Assad in December. Roughly 170 thousand are from Lebanon, where the government hopes the lifting of US sanctions will help Syria’s recovery and facilitate more returns. But many say they have nothing to return to.
