Ukraine has declared Friday a day of mourning for the victims of Russia’s deadly attack on the capital. At least 12 people were killed and 90 injured in the large-scale air raid on a neighbourhood about 12 kilometres from the city centre. Survivors speak of narrow escapes and shattered families. United States President Donald Trump has condemned his Russian counterpart following the attack. Ukrainian officials dismiss Moscow’s calls for peace as cynical, citing continued assaults on civilian areas. Anger grows not only at Russia but also at international pressure to accept ceasefires viewed as rewarding aggression. Kyiv and its allies maintain that peace is impossible while bombs continue to fall. Al Jazeera’s Zein Basravi reports from Kyiv.
